Patriot II
On February 9, 2003 the Center for Public Integrity obtained a copy of draft legislation entitled "Domestic Security Enhancement Act of 2003." This legislation, also called "PATRIOT II", was drafted in secret for many months before it was leaked to the public. Despite the Department of Justice's attempts to minimize the significance of the bill, if passed, PATRIOT II will greatly expand surveillance powers, provide law enforcement officials with greater access to private data, and further infringe on the right of immigrants.
